30Under30 Nominee: Laura Genno

Great to hear from Global 30 Under 30 Nominee, Laura Genno, a Product Lead at Tellet, a platform for AI-powered qualitative research, based in Amsterdam. Laura is responsible for Tellet’s product strategy. In plain terms, Laura does research about research, plans development sprints, talks to stakeholders, designs, (vibe-)codes and tests.

How did you find your way into research, data and insights?
I’ve worked in SaaS across different industries, from ticketing to FMCG, and ended up in research rather accidentally. That’s the beauty of working in tech: you can find yourself in a completely different world from one job to the next. I had to learn qualitative research from scratch over the past year, and it’s been a really rewarding journey. I’ve loved working with so many different researchers, understanding how they work and what makes research genuinely good.

What part of your work are you most proud of and why?
Rebuilding the Tellet platform from the ground up. It’s probably the most ambitious project I’ve ever led. We’ve completely redesigned the interface, the user experience and the infrastructure behind it. We’ve also added features such as MCP support, which lets researchers connect their study data directly to AI tools. We’re now in beta and I hope the new platform will completely change how researchers work (in a good way, of course!)

What have you learned so far that you wish you’d known when you started your career?
Often, 10% of the work drives 90% of the output. The key is to find those “hacks” and set aside time every week to review how you work and what could be optimised, with AI or without.

What excites you most about the future of insights and what would you like to help change?
Setting up a study still involves a lot of manual, administrative steps that aren’t the most exciting: negotiating with panels, invoicing, going back and forth between everyone involved. I would like to automate the boring parts so researchers and internal teams can focus on the actual analysis and complete a study in days, not weeks.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the industry?
Stay curious and experiment with new tools and technologies. And don’t worry too much if you don’t come from a traditional research background. I learned qualitative research from scratch and a fresh perspective can be an advantage. Ask lots of questions, spend time with experienced researchers and don’t be afraid to challenge how things are usually done.
Who has helped you along the way?
I’d like to thank my partner and teammate Artjom for always being there for me, even when I need him to review my code at 11pm.
